Looking for the family & marriage record of Charles
GWYN/GINN [etc.], b. ca. 1755, NC; d. ca. 1835, Tuscaloosa
or Greene Co., AL. Charles was in Wilkes Co., NC, in 1787, but
had left there by 1790. He appears to have moved to Burke Co.,
NC, by about 1789 when his son, Henry GUIN/GUINN was born.
In Wilkes Co., Charles was living in the same dist. with a
Cornelius GWYN, who may be a relation. A Richard GWYN
had died before 1787, and his widow, Sarah, was living in
Wilkes in another district. A Reid GWYN and a Joseph
GWYN were recorded in 1790 in the district Charles had lived in
in Wilkes. Also in the area was a large landowner names
James Gwynne/Gwyn. In Rowan Co. in 1759, there was recorded
a John George GINN, and a Peter GWYN m. Sarah TAYLOR in
Rowan in 1769.
Can anyone help me sort out these GWYNs? Anyone link
to any of them? Know of anywhere else I can look for records?
By 1809, my Charles GWYN had moved to Madison Co., AL, and
in 1826, purchased land in Tuscaloosa Co. in that state. I have
found no other children that were certainly his, and I believe
he may have been married twice.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Pam
