Bath, A wagoneer is a person who hauls freight by wagon drawn by
horses or oxen. Goods for stores came over a few main dirt roads.
There were no railroads until just before the civil war. These men
hauled military supplies as well. Daniel Boone served as a wagoneer in
the French and Indian War. The Hausers of Bethania here in the Moravian
Settlement were wagoneers. I have a neighbor here who is a Hauser. He
just naturally a retired truck driver (a wagon driver). Al
