South Carolina didn't keep marriage records until 1911 and then not all
marriages were recorded. Many marriages took place at the home of the bride,
a kinsman, or a preacher and were recorded only in a family Bible or church
record, even after there was a legal requirement for recordation. I know
because I have the same problem in documenting my grandparents marriage in
April 1911. It was not recorded and/or the State Archives does not have a
record of it. If you're really lucky you will find an announcement in a
newspaper of the time period.
Good luck to you.
