from the Into to book "NC Land Grants recorded in Greene Co.,
TN," compiled by Goldene Fillers Burgner:
"In 1783 the State of N C decided Washington District which extended as
the present State of TN to the Mississippi River. ......Greene (now TN)
was formed in 1783 from Washington (now TN)............This book
contains approx. 2,00 land grants ....made by the US Gov. to pay off
debts to officers and soldiers who served in the revolution; some of the
grants were from land owned and sold by Lord Granville; others were
issued by the states of NC and TN to encourage settlement....."

As we know, NC granted land (located in what is now TN) to the men who
served in the NC Continental Line in the Rev. War.
Does anyone know if there is an online index of these land grants and/or the
related warrants?
Thanks,Eldon
