Hello friends and cousins,

I am trying to sort out various McNEILLs. I see LOTS of them on the
Cumberland GenWeb page, can someone help?

1. Joseph Gist, born Abt. 1748 in Virginia; died Aft. 1812 in prob.
Tennessee. He was the son of 2. Nathaniel Gist and 3. Mary Howard. He
married (1) Ann Or Mary McNeill Abt. 1775 in Cumberland County, North
Carolina. She was the daughter of Neill McNeill and ???.

Notes for Joseph Gist:
On March 14, 1775, a grant of 640 acres was made to Joseph Guest, John
Huett, and Nathaniel Gist adjoining Quinces line and *Malcolm
McNeill's* line.

Joseph's niece Mary Gist married *Henry McNeill*, also CumberlandCo.

Descendants of this family moved to Lawrence Co, TN/Lauderdale & Colbert
Cos., AL.
