I am looking for a scotish family by the name of Cuthbert or maybe changed
it to Cutbirth, Cutberth.... that should have come over in the early
1700's. We know of a Benjamin Cutbirth in the Tennessee and Pitsburg area.
We do not know where he came from. We have a verbal story told that his
father died when he was very young and his mother remarried. Not getting
along with his stepfather he went out on his own. We know he did not come
from the TN area. The story goes that he was a new comer there. We have
been told by some Cuthbert's in Scotland that Cutbirth was originally such.
I am hoping that maybe his family was some of the North Carolina Scots.
Be forward any info that might help. Thanks so much. Christy.
