My ancestor William Forrester came with his wife and some children in the
1700's. My great great grandfather, James Forrester was born in South
Carolina in 1769. His parents had to come to this country prior to that
time. L have names of his siblings but no dates of birth.
The story passed down is that William Forrester came with his family to
South Carolina and had to work for 2 years for a man to pay for passage.
They sailed from Ireland and I had always thought they were Irish but found
a copy of a letter from my great Uncle Rev. Dr. Eldred John Forrester to a
niece stating that the family was from Scotland and probably originally
from France as Huguenots.
I have checked SC records that have been available as well as Passenger
Lists and can't find William Forrester. I am wondering if they might have
gone to NC and then down to SC.
I placed a query on a SC list and heard from several people wanting
Forrester information but nothing to help me.
If anyone can check any records of NC SCOTS and provide me with any
information, I will be most grateful.
Thank you, Marie
Marie Brunson Jefferson
