Hi all,
I'm new to the list and only two years into family research. One of my
areas of interest is Richmond/Scotland County, NC. The more I learn, the
more I realize how little I know! But I have accumulated a small collection
of Richmond/Scotland resources and, if anyone else is doing research in that
area, I'd be happy to look up names and see what I can find.
My ggggrandparents, Duncan and Catherine McCORMICK came to Richmond
County from Appin, Argylleshire, Scotland in 1791, along with Duncan's
brother, John. They are buried in Stewartsville Cemetery, near Laurinburg.
Their second daughter, my gggrandmother, Nancy, married Daniel CARMICHAEL
and they migrated first to Alabama, then to the Scottish settlement of Union
Church in Jefferson County, Mississipp and eventually settled in Neshoba
Co., MS. Would like to find other descendants of Duncan and Catherine's --
I have information to share with them and, probably, quite a bit to learn!
Also, have just begun my research on the CARMICHAELS of Richmond Co.
If anyone happens to have the address of the Stewartsville Cemetery
Association, I'd appreciate it so much if you would share it with me. And,
again, I'll be glad to look up names in my little "library"
for other Richmond/Scotland Co. researchers. -- Nancy Brister
