Subject: [NCSCOTS] Elisha Scott, Iredell and Cabarrus Co, early to mid 1800's

Hi, again,
I am going to take a wild stab and guess that my line surnamed Scott might
be from Scotland <g>. I am looking for a family for Elisha Scott, b. abt
1806 in Iredell County, NC. He shows up in the Iredell County tax list for
1837 with 230 acres listed as "Scott, Elisha (in trust) 230 acres". I find
him next in Cabarrus County marriage bonds: "Elisha Scott and Mary N.
Kimmons 4 Feb 1845 bondsman C. N. White, witness Kiah P. Harris". Mary
Kimmons Scott, also called Nancy, gave birth to a daughter,Mary "Mollie"
Harris Scott, then died in 1846 and is buried at Rocky River Presbyterian
Church in Cabarrus County. In the 1850 census, Elisha is shown in Cabarrus
County at age 44, a blacksmith, along with his 4 year old daughter. In 1860,
Mollie is living as a servant with another family and Elisha is nowhere to
be found, so I am guessing that he probably died between 1850 and 1860. I
have a lead that Elisha's parents may be John Scott and Martha Allen of
Iredell county, but it is unverified.
Any information on this family would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Karen Dutton
