My ancestor, Nicholas PARCHMAN/PARCHMENT/PERCHMENT, was in Col Washington's militia around Winchester, VA in 1758. I have no other records for him before 1773 in PA. Family tradition says he was German, but some legends say Scots-Irish. I have been looking for his origins for 28 years. There is one record for an Edward Parchman receiving a Tennessee land grant for service in the North Carolina Continental Line. However, I have found NO other record for this person, and wonder if he is a fictitious person made up as part of the land fraud perpetrateed by powerful and wealthy NC politicians and businessmen (Blount, Davidson, Robertson, etc).

I am looking for any records for a Parchman in North Carolina. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
