Hellooooo! Anyone there? I may have been the only one to get this message.
The list may not be working again. Hope to see you on Saturday. If you
already received the message, my apologies.

Meeting Reminder! Saturday, 22 January 2005

NC Triangle TMG Users Group Meeting
Saturday, 22 January 2005
9:30AM to 12:00PM
LOCATION:
LDS Family History Center
1050 Airport Road, Chapel Hill, NC
off of Airport Road, north of the intersection with Estes Drive (turn at
sign for "Timber Hollow Luxury Apartments")
LDS: Phone: 919-967-0988
Enter address for map: http://www.mapquest.com/

PLEASE RSVP, ASAP. We need to get an idea of how many tables and chairs.
Email your Q's! for the Q&A. And email your suggested topics - what do you
need to discuss RIGHT NOW.

Happy New Year TMG'ers! It has been a long time since the last meeting
in October 2004. I hope you have had some success in researching your
family lines and entering your data and images in TMG. I have entered all
my data, with all my sources and citations, with all my images of documents,
with all my pictures and every sentence is a gem. NOT! Well that was the
dream anyway. Too busy during the holidays though I did make a few quick
trips to the FHC to view some microfilm that I had ordered. Now it is time
to get busy again!

As you know, Version 6 has been released. I ordered my CD, downloaded
and installed the day it was announced. I know, Ben, that is not always a
good idea with the possibilities of new release bugs, but TMG-L has reported
very few and I have not had any problems so far. I also purchased,
downloaded and installed the GenSmarts program that is offered for less than
half price and was duly impressed. You must order the upgrade by the end of

this month to get the special price on GenSmarts. You can watch a demo or
download a trial version from http://www.gensmarts.com.

For our January meeting, we will look at the new features of V.6 and
demo GenSmarts. Bring your new Christmas toys, your new laptops, external
hard drives, 1 Gig thumb drives, PC handhelds, etc., and we will take TMG
for a spin.

Meeting format: A very short initial meeting to include Q's&A's
followed by our Topic.

Laptops: It is important that you bring your laptop, if you have one,
and bring a copy of your database, *.sqz, for those that do not. You need
to work with your database and your configuration to let us help meet your
needs and solve your issues.

Topics: The topics are still yours to suggest and you will choose the
topic that best meets your needs. Popular topics can be repeated in later
meetings so you won't be torn by the choices but we will build on each topic
as we move forward.

I mentioned that I ordered the CD and I received it but it was defective
but Wholly Genes realized it and is sending a replacement. Amazing! I have
copied the message from Bob below.

See you next Saturday!

Paul

Subject: Your TMG Order - not a duplicate

Dear TMG User,

Shortly after the first batch of TMG v6 CDs were shipped, a problem was
discovered with the installer menu (the menu that comes up when you insert
the CD in your drive). Although the Universal British Directory was on the
CD and was accessible with the "CD Browser" button, it was not accessible
through the menu item which bears its name. Clicking on that option during
the installation just did nothing.

Your shipment was in that group and, since you are entitled to a CD that
works as intended, we have reshipped the package to you with a revised
CD. You will therefore receive what appears to be a duplicate shipment -
but it is not! Please use the CD from the package postmarked Jan 11th or
thereafter and destroy the earlier defective CD.

This problem only affects a small percentage of users but you have the
distinction of being one of them since you were among the first to order
the upgrade.

We apologize for the problem.
