ELKIN Ernest Moses Layell May 24, 1933 - Feb. 11, 2012 Ernest Moses Layell, age 78 of Elkin NC, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, February 11, 2012. He was surrounded by his loving family and wonderful staff at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home of Dobson. Mr. Layell was born in Yadkin County on May 24, 1933 to the late Raymond & Laura Luffman Layell. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Ann Vestal Layell, a daughter Rose Marie Layell; a brother Raymond Junior Layell; and a sister, Mary Lee Weatherman. Mr. Layell is survived by his Special Friend, Morene Blevins of Glade Valley, N.C.; sons, Sammy Edward Layell of Union Grove, N.C., Ernest Wayne Layell & wife Susan of Walkertown N.C., Steven Randy Layell Ashley & wife Amanda of Jonesville, N.C., Douglas Durwin Layell of Union Grove, N.C., David Moses Layell of State Road, N.C.; brother William Haston Layell & wife Pernie of State Road, N.C.; Special Loving Niece Katie Pardue & husb!
and Bill of Elkin, N.C.; 20 grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; several loving nieces and nephews; and several loving friends. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at Grace Full Gospel Church, Messick Rd., Jonesville with Rev. Bobby Prevette and Rev. Tim McCann officiating. Burial will follow the service at Sunrise Cemetery in Jonesville. The family will receive friends Monday, February 13, 2012 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home. In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made in his honor to Grace Full Gospel Church, c/o 290 Edwards Ridge Road, Elkin, N.C. 28621.
