Ruth Heuer, a longtime resident of Noonan, North Dakota and more recently of Plentywood, died March 19 at the Sheridan Memorial Nursing Home at age 94. Funeral services were held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Noonan on March 23 with Reverend Carol Wendel officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Born February 12, 1899 in Denver, she was the daughter of Herman and Ida (Bengtson) Wilson. As an infant, she moved with her family to Nebraska and Minnesota before settling in Blooming Valley Township, Divide County (west of Noonan) in 1912. She married Jim Mellum, the local barber, in 1920 at Noonan. He preceded her death in 1952.

On July 20, 1954, she married Fred Heuer at Noonan. Following his death on April 5, 1985, she moved to Plentywood to be near her family.

A long-time member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, she was very active in the affairs of the church, she had taught Sunday School there for many years. She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Noonan and belonged to the Senior Citizens groups in Crosby and Noonan.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Norma and Orval Pederson of Plentywood; five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; and a brother Roland of Plentywood. Besides her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, and two brothers.
