Evelyn,
Samuel Cooper Neel was under 14 in 1802 and dead by 1865. He was a
farmer and lived in Mifflin Twp., Allegheny Co.,Pa. Unfortunately I do
not know the dates for Joseph M.; however based on a few dates that I
have of his siblings, I would guess that you are correct with the 1833 or
34.

Mary (Smiley) d. in 1858 and was from Allegheny City, Allegheny Co., PA.
so from what you say that his mother died a few years after he was born,
this must not be the family.

There was another Neel family who's father died and the mother died a few
years later but I don't know it they had a Joseph M. and the dates were
the late 1700's.

Who was the spouce of your Joseph M.? Where did he live? What were his
children's names? Maybe I can help if I have more info.
