Whether you would offer prayers or good vibes or in whatever way is yours,
please keep in heart and mind our cousins and all the people threatened and
affected by the burning in Australia. One of our good Cornish cousins,
Julie Wheeler and her family lost everything yesterday to the fires, except
their lives. Thanks be they still have their lives.
Julie is the Online Parish Clerk for the area of Phillack in
Cornwall. This means that she volunteers her time to keep and transcribe
and post records and to do lookups for people interested in that
area. She's lost it all now, except what was online. Her family is but
one of many facing this devastation right now.
Here is a post from the Cornish List that says it well:
>Hi Listers,
>One thing we have come to grips with living in Australia is bushfires but
>we will never really come to grips with the loss of a loved one or our
>valued possessions. Neither can be replaced but should you see a reference
>then keep it for Julie when she gets back on her feet. She is OPC for
>Phillack and would give you her all, so if you only find one reference, it
>could be the one that brings down somebody's brickwall. At the moment it
>is 37 C and the wind is gusting up to 110 KPH and the sky is black. A
>Christmas that will be remembered. Happy Christmas and 2002 to all.
