Okay, then I'm guessing it was 16-year-old Dora Eubanks, murdered by Indians on August 7 when she resisted abduction at the Eubanks ranch near Kiowa Station.
Previously friendly, the Indians became more numerous along the trail in the days just before their uprising. To put off suspicions of any malevolence, they explained their presence by saying they intended a trip to St. Joseph, MO.
