Can anyone help me pinpoint the location of Old Wyoming, Nebraska? I have
copies of letters written from there by family members (MACINTOSH and
REED) in 1863.
One mentions an attempt by confederate sympathizers to tear down the flag
above the post office. Abner Clark Reed talks in his letter about being
the postmaster. A number of family members--at least according to
accounts in a family Bible--were born or died there.
The text of the letter leads me to believe that the town was close to the
Missouri River, perhaps a ferry site that disappeared after the railroads
came through???
Many thanks.
