Hi list, I am trying to find out what happened to the Burgess & McDonald
families of Dixon county,Nebraska. My GGgrandparents Daniel McDonald & Ellen
McMahan came from Illinois in 1873 to Dixon county & settled there with their
4 children. Their son Barney J McDonald was my paternal grandmother's father.
Barney married Ellen Elena Burgess. Ellen is buried at the Sacred Heart
cemetery in Emerson,Nebraska.
So far I don't know what became of Barney! I need a marriage date also.
Barney's parents were buried at the Southcreek Cemetery in Ponca. Barney had
2 sisters of which I don't know their names ,but they did marry an Eyler and
a Daniel Donlin. his brother was J.E.McDonald but I don't know what the
initials stand for. Does anyone recognize these names?
Barney J McDonald would probably have been
born in Galena,IL around 1860-65. His wife Ellen had siblings in Dixon county.
Ellen was b.1866 in Canada ( don't know parents names). A brother Peter
married Anna Comaskeri & I think they moved to Sioux City,IA.
Mary Burgess married William Mannion or Manion in 1873. Elizabeth Burgess
toCharles Statton in 1873, Maggie Burgess to Joe Coughlin in Omaha,Ne. on 11
May,1887 & Catherine Burgess to Charles Wilbur. I don't know when my
G-grandparents Ellen & Barney McDonald married. I have corresponded back &
forth on the Dixon county web site & am in regular contact with one of the
lookup volunteers there.
So far the Burgess family found there were frm a different family, not mine.
Anyone out there recognize any of these people?
