Message Board Post:
I have a Daniel Neff showing up in my family's household for the 1860 census. Mariah Taylor Dewitt FARRINGTON and Wm A. Farrington were living in Clayton Township, Woodford County, IL with 6 children, a daughter-in-law and her brother, a hired hand and a baby of 4mos named Daniel Neff. Why was Daniel in this household? I checked the census for other families living nearby thinking that the child was being cared by the family when the census was taken. I have seen this happening before on the census. I have been unable to find anything on this person since that time leading me to think that either he died but hoping that he just fell through the cracks of the census takers. Does anyone out there have any information on this person??
My Taylor, Dewitt and Farrington's came from Dearborn County, Indiana to IL.
