Wow, Doris! It's amazing what information is available out there!
Your information on Big Em's parents does contradict what I found on the Ancestry.com Family Data Collection-Births when I did an exact search (Soundex) for Lofquest.
http://search.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/sse.dll?f1=&f0=lofquest&sx=f0&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f7=&f8=&f9=&f11=&f12=&f10=&f14=&f15=&f13=&prox=1&db=genepoolb&ti=0&ti.si=0&gl=&gss=rfs&gst=&so=3
I wonder how valid this data is.
Sadly, this is where I got Big Em's death date (4 Jun 1939, Holt, NE) information and that of her kids (Family Data Collection-Deaths), so again I wonder how valid it is. I do know she was living in Golden, CO on a chicken farm with Sadie in 1930 according to the census. I figure after Sadie (1936)and her 2nd husband William Elliehausen died (1929), Emma either stayed in CO or moved back to live with Annie Friend, her only surviving child. She does not appear to be buried with Wilhelm in the Cleveland Cemetary or the rest of the Lofquests, so again I'm confused. Annie and Harrison are not buried here either, but other Friend family members are. Maybe she's buried near them.

You mention the newspapers being on the Ancestry.com site. I don't see them listed in the Nebraska list (just Lincoln and Omaha papers).
Do you think any of the resources you mentioned would have photographs of any of them. I really want to identify the people in the photos with my grandma, Grete Peter (1903-1985) and hopefully this will help me figure out exactly when she was in Grand Island (1923?-1927?)
I would appreciate your help with anything.
I'm willing to reimburse you for supplies and your time.
Debbie
