RE: Miners. My grandfather, John PODGURSKI(original
PodgOrski) came to the U.S. late, in 1903, and went to the mines in IRON
RIVER, Michigan to work. There was some talk that he also worked in the
mines in PA. before coming to Columbus. He worked for the R.R. for the
rest of his life but when I tried to find out where he signed
on.........I was told they didn't have those records. I may look into the
area in PA. that Tom has suggested. Thanks Tom

I have a photo of the Columbus National Guard that is from
the 1930's(have to look it up again) It is a great photo and is about
11x17. My mom is able to identify alot of the men. ( A couple of my
uncles are in it) Sherri, would you be interested in it if I sent a
copy with as many I.D'd as possible? Or do you think that Platte Co
Hist Soc probably has it?
Lastly..........Sherri, I got a great copy of the ships
manifest that you gave me to look up. The name Geo. Engel COULD be
mistaken for EUgel but if you note the way the purser wrote, it is
clearly an "N". It is on it's way for you to check out. I sure hope
it is YOUR Engels-Hoffmans. Kathy B
