"My aunt told me all their dresses were made out of flour sacks - that flour
sacks back then were cloth and some were very pretty floral fabrics - grandma
would stitch them together into dresses for them to wear as fabric was scarce"

- - - - - One of my many "Uncles", Casimir Lassek was a census enumerator during the early years in Duncan Nebraska. He had several stories concerning the things that he saw and relayed most of this information on to his son, Ronald C. Lassek.

Apparently virtually all the farm children were clothed in Flour and Gunny Sacks - times were hard, never enough shoes to go around. I've been told there was no money and returns on farming were slight.
