Obituary Lydia Petersen
Lydia Juliana Jungck the seventh child of John Herman and Margretha Holtzberger Jungck was born October 29, 1880 at Ridgeway, Iowa.
She was baptized in infancy by an uncle, Pastor Carl Jungck.
Her father passed away in the spring of 1884. The family moved to Sheridan County in the spring of 1888 where they took a homestead seven miles south west of Rushville.
She attended country school and was confirmed in Immanuel Lutheran Church by Pastor A Heckel on April 7th 1895.
On December 17, 1903 she was united in marriage to Bernhard Petersen and moved to the farm 14 miles south west of Rushville where she spent the rest, except for the last year, of her life.
Three sons and five daughters were born to this union.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernhard (Bart), daughters Nannie Diers and Bertha, a son Lawrence, two granddaughters, two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
She is survived by sons Henry and Adolph, and daughters, Gertrude Walgren of rural Hay Springs and daughters Louisa Strong and Christina Winston of Rushville, twenty nine grand children, forty great grand children three great great grandchildren and a large number of relatives and friends.
She passed away quietly Wednesday January 23rd at Park View Lodge in Rushville.
Funeral Services were conducted Saturday January 26 from Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor Ed Hunziker, officiating.
Music was furnished by a quartet; Elmer and Delores Dreyer, Katherine Stava and Bill Huntington who sang "In The Garden" and "I Know That My Redeemer Liveth" and were accompanied by Lois Jungck.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Dennis and Raymond Peterson, Neil and Bernard Strong, Bruce Walgren and Julius Diers.
Grossmütter was a dedicated Christian and homebody whose chief interests were her church and her large family. She spent many pleasant hours in caring for her garden yard and many beautiful house plants.
She chose to wear her wedding dress for her burial.
