Jannes (later: James) Buffinga, born 12 July 1851 in Den Ham, shoemaker, married 24 May 1879 in Aduard Anke Donkerbroek, born 12 May 1854 in Doezum, died 1919, daughter of Berend Donkerbroek (born 31 Jan. 1814 in Doezum, died 2 Sept. 1866 in Doezum, son of Jan Alberts Donkerbroek and Anke Leffers) who married 5 June 1850 in Oldekerk Anje Reitsema (born 14 May 1826 in Niekerk, died 26 Nov. 1884 in Doezum, daughter of Mente Pieters Reitsema and Trijntje Hendriks).

Jannes/James Buffinga was a son of Berend Buffinga, tailor, born 14 Aug. 1824 in Grootegast, who married 30 Sept. 1847 in Aduard Klaaske Noordhof, born 18 Jan. 1820 in Aduard, died 2 Sept. 1882 in Den Ham, daughter of Jacob Noordhof and Trientje Alberts.

Berend Buffinga was a son of Jannes Alberts Buffinga, carpenter, born 28 May 1785 in Doezum, died 21 Dec. 1826 in Grootegast, who married 14 Dec. 1811 in Aduard Aafke Jans Muller, born in June 1786, died 20 Dec. 1826 in Grootegast, daughter of Jan Jans Muller and Trijntje Jacobs Poelman.

Jannes Alberts Buffinga was a son if Albert Jannes Buffinga and Rienske Siepker.

All these places are in the South-west of the province of Groningen, Netherlands. The capital of this province is also called Groningen.

Personally, I am interested in Ben Buffinga and Mary Huizen Buffinga, daughter of John Huizen and Catherine Hudson. Are you a descendant of this couple?
