It means Frederick did not know and his mother never told him. I am serveral instances of this in my family tree and even the birth record does not show fathers names.
Den helder is another lousy place to obtain records. wish I could help you further. What do you know of his son ??
So if Frederik was born out of wedlock, would there be a record of his birth? And since there is no father of Frederik on his marriage certificate, would that suggest that he didn't know who his father was? Sorry I can't provide more information. I have searched for Fredrica Carolina van Leent in the past, but no luck. I can only assume that she came from Gouda or thereabouts, as most of the van Leents seem to come from there.
