Hello!
I am trying to find out what tribes would have been in the area of
northern VT. I did a google search but could not locate any in VT. Family
legend has that my DH's gg-grandmother was Native American; on a copy of the
1850 VT census, under the column of 'race' (white, negro or mulatto) there
is a check mark. However, I notice checkmarks by several of the wives'
names. Is that checkmark supposed to signify something? If so, what? I
have just joined this list and am looking forward to learning/helping as much
as I can!
