Annette,

Oropi and Poro-o-tarao are both described in The New Zealand Guide by E.S.
Dollimore, H. Wise & Co., Dunedin, 1962. The book does not say if Oropi was
a sawmilling town. You _could_ try National Archives, Auckland, for school
records for the latter.
