Subject: [NZ] Immigrant Ship HIMALAYA to Lyttelton Feb 1867: Passengers
Date: Sun, 2 Jun 2002 11:55:40 +1200

Greetings Listers:

Please: Does anyone know of any passengers on the HIMALAYA (Lyttelton
Feb, 10 1867) who were not assisted immigrants? My ancestor Hannah
DEAVOLL and her sister Sarah are listed (Lyttelton Times Feb 11, 1867)
as assisted immigrants, but their parents Daniel and Ann DEAVOLL are not
so listed. I have been led to believe that the whole family was on that
ship but have no way to confirm that fact. It has been suggested that
Daniel DEAVOLL was brought out to New Zealand to be the miller at the
new flour mill at Leithfield and hence his passage may have been paid by
someone other than the Govt or the Provincial Govt. Any suggestions
welcomed, thank you.
