I have a photograph taken pre-1907 - in Christchurch. One of the
gentlemen is a William Darlow - who lived in Tay Street Richmond. He was
a Shoemaker. He died in 1907.
The name of the photographer is missing - but shows clearly JUBILEE
STUDIO.
There are 15 men in the Photo, and they have around their shoulders -
dropping to the waist a type of fancy waistcoat front. The designs of the waistcoats vary but clearly show 'Cross Keys' 'Cross Wheat' 'Harps' a 'Sword' 'Half Moon' etc . Mostly the fronts of these waistcoats are dark. Two men
have fringed very light material ones. Then some have as well as what
I described initials - one shows 'OG' 'MS' 'FS' 'PA' etc.
I could send as an attachment the photo if anyone can help off the list Cynthia Brodie
