Hi All

I'm searching for Carnie families and descendants who came to NZ from Australia in the 1860 - 1890 period.
Have looked through all NZ archives on Rootsweb; found nil.

At least the following lived there for some time

All sons of Alexander Carnie and Margaret Houston from Dunfermline in Scotland.

Alexander Carnie b 1825, married Margaret Smeaton, moved to NZ from AUS to mine gold at Switzers, (current name?); Carnie Hill named after him? He returned to AUS and died 1969 in Melbourne.
Any children in NZ? or descendants??

William Carnie b 1832, married Catherine Devine, moved to NZ from AUS in 1863, family followed later. One child Mary Jane married Patrick Hanna in NZ. Other children born NZ??; descendants ?? Probably died 1914 (where??).

David Carnie b 1836, married ??, fought in Maori wars; 3rd Waikato Regiment, land garnt?; died ? maybe NSW AUS.

Andrew Carnie b 1837, married Margaret?? in NZ, Child Alexander ( from death certificate ), returned to AUS probably alone and died Numurkah, VIC 1902. Any other children/descendants?

Henry Carnie b 1839, married Helen Kay 1871 @ Switzers NZ, children Ann, David, Mary, Henrietta, Isabella, George, James and Jessie. Moved to Dunedin about 1875, have family tree from descendant of George, George Colin Carnie died 1993.

Any knowledge of current Carnie historians in NZ or where I should look.

Regards Keith Morris
in warm Brisbane AUS
