Hi Glenys,
Your timing is perfect. I have been searching for a long time for
ancestors moving from Victoria to NZ in 1860s and had been unable to find
them. On Friday at Public Record Office, Victoria in Melbourne (PROV) I
think I found my relatives with surname misspelt sailing from Victoria to
Invercargill on Ladybird departing Victoria 31 March 1863. The microfilm
of the original passenger list is at the PROV but they closed before I
could look at it so I am going back soon - this week if possible.
If I can't find him on the same voyage I will look at passenger list
(alphabetical) to see if I can find him. These listings FROM Victoria to
NZ are held only on microfiche. From NZ TO Victoria is on searchable draft
CD held only at PROV.
Just think, if you'd posted this last week, I'd never heard of Ladybird!
