I've tried looking up a couple of sources...... but instinctively I would
have said the Manukau Ranges would be the ones at the Awhitu Peninsular too
OR the area we now call Redoubt Road (Manukau City).

However.......... Drury was the registration district for much of that area.
And if the original enquirer and someone with the BMD registration indexes
were to check the numbers........ didn't they run consecutively by area, and
shouldn't that confirm the proximity of the next registration district.

Also.....that book "Old Manukau" in the possession of a list member - should
disclose the answer. The current Manukau City area is a greatly reduced
area from what it was in the 1850s. In those days it emcompassed such
places as County of Eden (took me years to figure out that one!) which is
now covered by parts of Papakura District Council and Franklin Distict
Council etc.
