Today its the 73rd anniversary of Napier Earthquake.. 3rd February...

Two Haxton girls died in the quake.. they were from Carterton..
George Haxton (Sapper) died WW1. buried Brockenhurst. Hampshire.

One of the names I am researching down at Clareville Cemetery.. other names which tally up are Moore. Anderson.Challis.Kemp. etc...

The second recorded burial at Clareville was Jane Haxton nee Anderson, she was born in Shoreditch Workhouse. London..next to her is buried her grandson...Jane died 1867. grandson about 1901. Jane has a very old Totara Headboard..almost undreadable.. Wishart her grandson had a lovely round headboard, this has been remade and due to be erected shortly.
