Hi Cathy,
I send to the Office of National Statistics:
http://www.statistics.gov.uk/registration/general_register.asp each
certificate costs £11
There are a couple of ways to locate BMDs from either.
http://freebmd.rootsweb.com/cgi/search.pl if you're lucky and sending to
the local registration offices will be quicker, cheaper and more personal.
http://www.1837online.com/ or here but be patient, it helps to have an
unusual name and a reasonable idea of the date and place.
