Legacy allows you to output your "Book" to a Rich Text File (which you can
later open in Word.)
My suggestion is that you download a free copy of Legacy version 2.0, and
import your gedcom from FTM to Legacy. Produce the Books that you want
with Legacy, selecting the Rich Text option. Then merge/edit/delete/paste
as much as you want.
But be warned. You will then have two, maybe three, versions of your data
- the Legacy database, the FTM database, and the Word document. Can you be
disciplined enough to ALWAYS update all three whenever a new scrap of
information comes to hand?
Good luck.

I have the genealogy programs:
Family Tree Maker 5.0
and
PAF 5.2
I would like to do a very comprehensive print-out of my genealogy data to
leave for posterity and it seems that "Book" facility of one or other of my
genealogy programs would be what I should use. The trouble is that neither
of them seem to allow me the necessary control of what is printed.
What I would like to do is assemble a word processor file of the
descendants
from one full line then merge the others with that one but without
duplicating the data already assembled.
As far as I can see at present the programmes do not allow that.
Can anyone tell if/how it can be done with one of the programs - or
recommend one which handles that.
