The death notice for my ggg grandfather James GRAHAM of the Provincial Hotel Nelson that appeared in the Nelson Colonist on 26th Sept 1873 included 'Edinburgh papers please copy'. Other that letter by ship, what were, if any, the options for conveying that information to the Edinburgh papers? How long after Sept 26th 1873 should I look in Edinburgh newspaper editions for the death notice? Would the notice placed in an Edinburgh paper be any different than the notice placed in the Colonist? In 1873 how many newspapers were being published in Edinburgh?
Thanks for any ideas - Jenny
