Hi Leigh,

Regarding the WW1 and WW2 records being transferred to Archives NZ, I
think it's a bit scary and like you I expect access to the records will
become much more difficult (and costly). Admittedly the records are
worth preserving but the NZDF seems to be doing a very good job of that
and they certainly have more affinity with researchers looking for
information on their forbears.

Seems to me just another initiative by the government to fleece the
public for access to records they already own. The message to
researchers should be "Get your files now before the additional taxes
are imposed".
