Well said Graham Jones! I have even had the
experience of helping well known Listers who fail
to even respond let alone say thanks - They will
never get help again. They are on my list!

The CD covers marriages from 1836-1956. You can
find details at the NZSG
site www.genealogy.org.nzclick on sales
then CD ROMs.

The CD is designed for personal use. Those kind
souls doing lookups have
paid $25 for their copy, and they do the research
out of the kindness of
their hearts. I have yet to see anyone offering a
donation for a lookup.

If you do seek help of this kind at least disclose
your location, as
this will often determine whether you will get
assistance or not, eg
people from overseas who don't have easy access
are more likely to get
help than those who live in NZ and just rely on
'freebies'.

There are many willing helpers out there, just
treat them with respect
and don't assume they have an obligation to do
your work for you.
