Subject: [NZ] Searching for registration - death in Benin

Good afternoon List,
Can anyone advise me where to look? I have a
death recorded on parents' gravestone for a relative
who died in Benin 10 September 1863 aged 24. He was
born in Dornoch, Scotland. There should be a
registration somewhere for his death but I can't find
where. He doesn't appear in Scotland's People. I
have tried googling Benin Registrar of births deaths
marriages and ended up in South Australia, goodness
knows why.
Where would deaths in Africa be recorded? Any
help gratefully received.
