Hi Mike

It would seem from Archives NZ's Archway website that the John HANKS
who died in 1941 was a retired farmer, and that there is a probate at
Auckland archives (ex Hamilton High Court) on public access

Hamilton Probates
HANKS John - Te Aroha - Retired Farmer 1941
Agency BCDG, series 4420, accession [-], Box 239, item 5077

The probate entry will give his date and place of death which would
help the search for a death notice. A local undertaker may also have
useful information.

Elizabeth's will would give the date and place of death, and could
well give the relationship to the LANE sisters,
but Archway does not list a probate for any Elizabeth HANKS.
Perhaps she was married?

Hope this helps
