Morning Glenn,
There was a business in Stafford Street, Timaru, called, Scarf and Cookson,
established in 1895. The Scarf was the son of a Mr. W. Scarf, who had the
first butcher's shop in Timaru. Is this a connection?
Google the, Timaru District Council, "Cemetery search" there are a number of
Scarf burials in the Timaru Cemetery, who unfortunately were not too big on
headstone inscriptions but other data can be obtained from these records.
Data from the NZ Marriages CD 1836 -1956 as follows:
Lucy Helena Scarf married in 1905 to George Walter Brehant Folio number 1228
(Surname could be Brehaut perhaps.)
Olive Hilda Scarf married in 1922 to Leonard Nohelty. Folio number: 6843
Regards,
Marina
