Just Googled "Queen's Scarf" and the first item that came up was about Trooper (Philip?) Coutts who was awarded the Queen's Scarf".
There were quite a few other artices but have not read them all yet.

listening to Radio Live this morning (Anzac Day) a caller rang in and said
before the VC, there were some scarves made, and one is in NZ.. now does
anyone know anything about this please? Verification needed.. He said,
Queen Victoria knitted them...

Absolutely wonderful Concert in Masterton last evening, finally met up with
some of the extended Haxton family..
