Hi Maureen,

"how or can I find the ship's log or any information about the "Lapwing"
and her crew."

Peter Nash, Executive Officer of the New Zealand Society of Genealogists
(NZSG, http://www.genealogy.org.nz/) was the guest speaker at the
Wellsford Branch last week, where I am a member, and his talk centered
around emigration to NZ. *Some* of the resources he recommended to us
included:

"Ships' Logs, Journals, Pictures and Passenger Ship Links" -
http://www.members.optushome.com.au/lenorefrost/shipslog.html

"Log of Logs" by Ian Nicholson - make sure you look at all three volumes
of this book.

NZSG Shipping Database -
http://www.genealogy.org.nz/Shipping_Database_362.aspx

PapersPast - http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/

New Zealand Yesteryears - http://www.yesteryears.co.nz/

Our Stuff - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~ourstuff/

Also try:

Alexander Turnbull Library - http://www.natlib.govt.nz/atl

New Zealand National Maritime Museum - http://www.nzmaritime.org/home.html

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard
