Hi Deb,

"I am looking for some information or websites that may have lists of
ships passengers between New Zealand and Australia and vice versa
between the years of 1888-1920. Possibly embarking Wellington, and
disembarking Sydney. Trying to find a family of HAND (George Thomas,
Ellen and children Albert Edwin, Edith Maud, Wesley Rainsford,) who have
disappeared off the radar from Wellington from about 1888..."

If your family travelled via Victoria, you may find them in the
emigration indexes at the Public Records Office of Victoria (PROV,
http://www.prov.vic.gov.au/).

Not so great if they went through the NSW ports, as their records aren't
so readily accessible online, but take a look at
http://www.records.nsw.gov.au/archives/archives_in_brief_1_365.asp for
more information.

Did the Wellington newspapers of the day publish names of passengers
travelling to Australia? Take a look at PapersPast
(http://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/) to see if there's anything likely
available.

Hope this helps. :-)

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard
