Hi Mike,

Have you tried searching the New Zealand Gazette? I have found lists of
registered teachers there in the past, and your man should probably be
there, too. It would give a location, which is a good starting point.

You don't indicate where you are, but try your local libraries for the
original paper editions for appropriate years (that's the hard way of
looking it up) or for the searchable hard disk edition of the Gazette
(the easy way!).

The New Zealand Society of Genealogists (NZSG,
http://www.genealogy.org.nz/) has a copy of the hard disk edition in its
library in Panmure, and they also have a copy that gets taken around the
country - so if you know that Peter Nash is going to be visiting your
local branch get yourself along there and he'll likely have it with him.

Otherwise, if you're a member of NZSG and can't get to a copy of the
Gazette to search, you should use their Research Service for a lookup.

Kind Regards,
Wendy Howard
