I have a couple more references re a William John LEYBOURNE.

If you go to this site http://trove.nla.gov.au/ndp/del/article/10073755 you
will find a story about a man of the same name who was found dying on train
tracks after possibly falling from a train. The article mentions that at one
time he worked in the Audit Department at Wellington, New Zealand. Who knows
if this is the same man.

He died 22 Aug 1910. His death registration is in QLD records, registration
number 1910/B12908. Each way bet perhaps!

There is also a marriage under this name. Registration number 1888/C661
Sophia LUSTY & William John LEYBOURNE. Now, since his wife died in NZ in
1888 he'd have been hard pushed to marry again in the same year - 24 Aug
1888 in fact. Would have to compare that against Thomazine's death date.

Looks a long shot at this stage. But there is no trace of him in NZ that I
have found today.
