I disagree that she couldn't have been buried on the same day as her death.
I have some instances of this in Australia. Burying someone wasn't as
complicated then as it is now.
There is a Mary Rogers death on the DIA website on 19 May 1928.

I really don't think there is any mystery to solve.

It sounds like you don't have the death certificate to know what she died

Unless she died of some highly contagious disease I would suspect a clerical
or transcription error
along the way

I did not find anything in the newspapers but far from all have an entry put

I would retrace the origin of the information, did she die on the 17th
perhaps and it was
transcribed as the 19th?
