In this new genealogy addiction of one month, I just had my first
success at a local library with a good genealogy collection. My
grandfather was Mark Basehore of Mechanicsburg, PA. I had an un-
documented family tree with his ggrandfather born in 1776. At the
library, I found a history and genealogy book that traces his family
back to their arrival in this country in 1735 from France via Germany.
They were apparently "Dunkards" or Brethren and fled for religious
freedom. Other spellings in early records were BASHAIR, BOESZHAAR,
BALTZER, all from early PA records. I don't have any supporting
evidence other that this book at this point, but would love to be
connect to anyone with these names in their history.
