A couple of quick genealogy stories for you folks. I have hesitated up to
now in posting them, since I wasn't sure funnies were welcome on here!

1) Did you hear about the lady with pretensions to an upper class
background who hired a professional genealogical researcher to do her
family tree for her? She was a bit of a snob and planned to publish it and
give copies to all her relatives. The researcher asked for 5,000 dollars up
front before he would start. She said that was fine and gave him the money.
But when he delivered his report and the would-be aristocratic lady read
what he had discovered about her family tree, she paid him another 5,000
dollars to keep quiet about it!

2) Did I ever tell you that I had an ancestor who was killed at the Battle
of Hastings? It was a bit of a tragic error really, since he wasn't
supposed to be at the battle at all. He was just camping in the next field
and went over to complain about the noise!
