Rose, so glad you have a big find. Even the little ones are thrilling,
but the major ones are even better.

I have had to much interesting mail from some listers who found my
experience in perseverance paid off, that I thought perhaps I could
give some encouragement in filing some of the things everyone saves,
by outlining a simple method I am using. My experience in this
colour coding goes back to about 1984 when I started to send some
of my early finds to the University of Sheffield. Eventually I donated
the first five parts [about 500 pages in total] on the HUTTY name.
If your roots stem from Yorkshire, the UOS loves to collect your
unpublished histories. The Director of the University was very
encouraging about the coloured index pages each time he wrote to
thank me. That really helped me to stay with that system and refine it.

For whatever my ideas are worth I do hope that some are encouraged
to try something similar or work out something that suits each one
personally.

Thank you for your nice comments and do hang in there! It gets better!
Having something given to you as you did, without asking for it, is
something that many of us have experienced. One contact I had
remembered something I needed from 5 years previous and she
located it by accident. Since I had changed my email address, she had
difficulty in finding me, but find she did, and it was the first big [and
only
clue] in the whole 5 years that I had on the name. Such wonderful help
is priceless! Wall down without even trying!

A word of advice: When up against a brick wall, just leave it alone and
work on other names. You will be too busy to dwell on what can't be
done while dealing with what can be!

June
